Sometimes Birthdays are so special that you have to celebrate them twice. Sister came to visit and I called over some friends to have a Pancake Jam. Everyone ate special pancakes in their jams, sister opened her presents and played for hours.

Family Day + March 2017
Our church had a family day in the park this year. Unfortunately it happened to be one of the coldest days of the year. This girl loved the balloons and could not get enough of the horses. Pop took her on a ride on the pony and she absolutely loved it.
Summer Infant My Size Potty + April 2017
In April I bought a Summer Infant My Size Potty to start potty training. I had looked at potties and none of them caught my eye. I was in Dallas at a friends house when I first saw this brand of potty. I liked it because it looked like the real thing just a smaller size. When I got home I saw it at Target for about $29.00. I decided to look it up on Amazon and it was $3.00 cheaper. I wasn't in a rush so I thought WHY NOT?
Cucs loved looking and sitting on it when I unpacked it. It was easy to put together with a small screw driver and batteries for the flusher were included.
My plans were to take a full weekend in May and knock it out but staying still for an entire weekend is just hard for us.
I rented a bunch of potty books and videos from our local library. They had plenty in stock and I was thankful that I didn't have to purchase the material that would literally be sitting around until another kid came along.
Has anyone used this potty? What books/ videos did y'all find to be helpful?

Nola 101
I bet you want to know all about me .
I'm a semi open book.
Pop and I have been married in Sept for 5 years, but we've been together for 11. We've both lived in Louisiana for all our lives despite our beautiful city like accents. He has worked for an auto parts store for 10 years. On the side he rebuilds and fixes everything. The man can build things by looking a picture. I've worked for a local non profit for 5 years. I work with children who are at risk for being placed out of their homes due to behavioral reasons. We graduated college from the same university within 6 months of each other. In December I will graduate with my Master's in Forensic Psychology.
We have a Lab, named Southern Dash and have dreams of owning lots of land, animals, and somehow I'm going to throw in a field of sunflowers and probably a pool.
Some of my favorite things are good TV shows ( SATC, KUWK, Grey's Anatomy, HTGAWM, Gilmore Girls, Power etc. ), books, traveling, pictures, red lipstick, creeping on celebrities, and writing even though I'm not the greatest grammatically.
Right now I'm obsessed with the thought of having twins ( whenever we decide to have kids), and continuing to try and put some good in the world by loving on kids who are being overlooked by the community.
What else would like ya'll like to know about me?

Hi
Hey Guys
I'm Alisa, but these days I am mostly being called Nola. Some might ask why Nola? I have two explanations. My name is Alisa Nelson- Nelson, I took the AL and ON from my first and last name and switched them. :) Actually a couple years ago I was driving around our local mall and saw an elderly man with a Panola license plate. I thought OMG how cute. I want to be a Nola when I have grandchildren. I told a couple friends and they told me Panola is a pepper company. (I had no idea) Well I still want to be a Nola and in order to have grandkids you have to have kids, I decided to use Nola in my aunte/ god mother/foster parenting name.
My husband, Justin or Pop, as you will often hear and I have been fostering for almost 2 years. It has literally been a dream I've had since I was around 8 years old. I have years of journals to prove it. We have had two placements and are really loving it. Currently we have a 19 month old who we have had for 8 months, we call her Cucs.
This blog will be where I grow into parenting and chasing this dream God has put on my heart that I now share with my husband, family and friends. I hope to meet other parents ( Biological or Foster ) that I can build a community of support with.
If you ever have questions ya'll can contact me northeastnola@yahoo.com or on IG
